Millie Bobby Brown, who portrays Eleven in Netflix’s hit TV series Stranger Things, has taken on a new role this fall. Brown plays the lead in Netflix’s new action-packed movie titled “Enola Holmes.” The movie is based on a fictional book series written by Nancy Springer, and the books were published between 2006 to 2010. Enola is a fictional character created by Nancy, but her two brothers Sherlock and Mycroft are based on characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous Sherlock Holmes series. Brown plays Enola, an intelligent and fierce young woman, similar to her older brothers Sherlock(Played by Henry Cavill), and Mycroft(Played by Sam Claflin) Holmes.

The film is set in England in the year 1884. It all starts when Enola’s mother,  Eudoria (played by Helena Bonham Carter) with whom Enola is close, disappears on Enola’s 16th Birthday. Eudoria taught Enola everything from self-defense to Shakespeare. The two often played word games together, so when Eudoria disappeared, she left Enola clues in the form of word puzzles as to where to find her.. In the midst of her search for her mother, Enola was placed under the care of Sherlock and Mycroft.

So, Enola ran off to London to find her mother. While searching for Eudoria, Enola gets involved in a few sticky situations. The first of said situations involves Enola meeting a young boy named Tewkesbury (Played by Louis Partridge) on the train to London. Tewkesbury explained that he, too, was making a daring escape from his family. The pair jumped off the train after spotting a a man who had been hired to capture Tewkesbury. The two thought about setting up a camp but soon decided to go their separate ways. But, shortly after Enola’s departure, she realized that she cared for Tewkesbury’s safety and decided to help his family find him in London.

In the meantime, Enola had to keep herself hidden from her brothers who wanted to send her to boarding school and find a husband thereafter. So , Enola occasionally tells strangers, “I’ll pay you five pounds to swap clothes with me” in order to maintain her disguises. Multiple times throughout the film, Enola fights off danger with her bare hands, just as her mother taught her to.

Action movie lovers will appreciate all of the twists and turns in the movie, as well as how fast-paced the film is. The costumes are amazing and they fit  in perfectly with the time period. Every second of the film was entertaining, and I was on the edge of my seat throughout. Enola concludes the movie by talking to the viewer, saying that she needs to find herself, and so do we. The movie was nothing short of what I thought it would be, and I hope that it meets your expectations too. The movie covered all the necessary details  and came to a very satisfying ending.

Enola Holmes can be streamed on Netflix.
