Albuquerque Academy’s soccer teams have had some spectacular seasons, and this year is no exception.
The boys JV team managed a perfect 15-0 season and only conceded six goals. Santiago Begay ‘28 and Carlos Chavez ‘27 were the leading scorers of the team with 14 and 17 goals respectively. The JV team had one 13-0 win against Bernalillo and two 10-0 wins versus Del Norte.
The girls JV squad finished the season with a 5-9 record, mercy-ruling several different opponents. Their best games included a 12-0 win against Del Norte, a 11-1 win against Atrisco, and a 10-0 win versus Miyamura. Their high scorer, Madeleine Dixon ‘27, was responsible for nine goals in these games.
The boys C team had one of their best seasons yet with a 7-4-1 record, losing to Albuquerque High, La Cueva, and Rio Rancho, and tying with La Cueva 1-1. Brett Andrews ‘28 finished as their top scorer with 24 goals and four hat tricks. Some of their best games included their first game against Santa Fe Prep – a close 6-5 win – and their matchups against Cleveland High, which they both won, 4-0 and 6-3.
Overall, the Chargers finished their season with impressive results from all three teams. There were some challenges, but our soccer squads managed to pull through to have a successful season.
