Unless you have been living under a rock the last year you’ve heard of Fortnite. Fortnite is a multiplayer battle royale game with an ever-changing storyline. It  keeps players coming back and even attracts big companies such as Apple or Samsung. Fortnite first became popular  in 2017 and can be played for free on virtually any console. As in any other Battle Royale, the object of the game is to be the last person standing.

There are a variety of different things that appeal to Fortnite players. One of these things is the cosmetics. Cosmetics are skins that you can purchase or get for leveling up . Skins are outfits you can use to change the appearance of  your character. Another thing that becomes addicting is trying to win. When saying you won a game, it makes you feel like you accomplished something. The third thing that appeals is that players can play together in a group/party of four. It’s fun to play with friends, and people can spend an immense amount of time playing. “I play Fortnite for four hours a day,” Andres Grine ‘24 said.

In a game of Fortnite the first thing you do is jump off a flying bus onto an island. There are a bunch of different places to land. Some popular places are Tilted Towers or Dusty Divot.

One of the important things in Fortnite is building. You can build walls, ramps, pyramids and floors. You can break things like trees or stones to get materials, which then you can in turn use to build and shield yourself from enemies’ bullets. There are a lot of different choices when it comes to your loadout on Fortnite. You can carry pistols, assault rifles snipers or even rocket launcher. “I like the amount of guns,” Carter Speegle ‘24 said.

One thing that keeps Fortnite players coming back is the in-game storyline. In the game there have been a lot of big events like meteors crashing into Dust Divot or a giant cube melting into Loot Lake. As you can see, the story can be very intriguing and sometimes will be the talk among the school.

In conclusion, as of now, Fortnite has 78.3 million players worldwide. Given its current popularity, it is unlikely that this game will die anytime soon
