Dean Jacoby (he/him) is a lifelong fan of soccer. His father used to take trips to Europe for work and bring back soccer kits, which were a lot less flashy back then. Dean remembers a Newcastle United shirt from the seventies that was so basic there wasn’t any insignia. It was just the black and white stripes like a referee’s uniform.

After playing all the way into college where he was a regular member of the bench, Dean has been coaching soccer at Albuquerque Academy since 2008. He has been assistant coach of the boys varsity team  since 2011. He started these writeups at that time as a way to help teachers to be aware of the life of their students outside the classroom and has been sending them to the @CHAT faculty/staff listserv ever since.

Coach Jacoby is excited to having been called up to the premiership by The Advocate and hopes they don’t relegate him too quickly.
