Trish Morris: Inspiration and Friend

Breast cancer survivor and a true testament to the human spirit, Trish Morris has a positive outlook on the rest of her life. When Trish was 46 years old, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. This “changed my outlook on life.” Although it’s hard to imagine someone going through such a tough time it’s clear that she is making the most out of the rest of her life. “This is so gravy! I hope to wake up each day and choose to live life with no regrets. To live with lots of love and treat people with kindness and gentleness. I want to love the people in my life the best I can” She says “Louis Armstrong is my Sunday music.” It’s clear that she has a positive attitude about the rest of her life. An event as serious as this can change your life for the worst. But it seems she is having the opposite happen: “I’m thinking that the first [way it changed my life] is that I enjoy being in the moment. A lot of times we are waiting for the next big moment. Each day is precious. Make the most of each day because you never know what’s coming. I think also it’s very significant that you can’t control everything that happens to your body but you can choose to live a really healthy lifestyle and I thought I had been living one before” Having cancer made her realize that she needed to make some changes. “Made me see that you can have a really healthy lifestyle”…. “I also see that a lot of things that make you upset don’t really matter. Life is more important. I get less irritated about those things.” Although she competed in triathlon and aquabike events prior to having cancer, her life post-recovery has revolved around cycling. She loves living a healthy lifestyle and feels that there is no better way to achieve one than through cycling. “I’m really thankful for life now.”
