Next Sunday’s Super Bowl will be filled with lots of excitement and drama. It will be between two of the best football teams in the game, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco Forty-Niners. For the Chiefs, victory in this Super Bowl would mean winning two years in a row, which has not been accomplished since 2004 and 2005 by the New England Patriots. For the Forty-Niners, this Super Bowl will be a rematch from the 2020 championship game in which the Chiefs prevailed. The Forty-Niners are hoping there will be a different outcome this time. Both teams are powerhouses, so it will surely be a close game.
Forty Niners:
The Forty Niners are an offensive juggernaut with amazing players at almost every position. They have phenomenal receivers in Deebo Samuel and Branden Aiyuk, and one of the best tight ends in the league in George Kittle. Of course, you can’t forget the best running back in the league, Christian McCaffery, who is going to end a season where he has had more yards than any other running backs in the league, and the quarterback, Mr. Irrelevant (also known as Brock Purdy), who got this nickname after being taken dead last in the NFL draft. On the defensive side of the ball, you have pro linebacker Nick Bosa – who has not been as hot this year, but is always a threat. Rounding out this dynamic team is head coach Kyle Shannahan, who has one of the best offensive minds in the league. He has been able to utilize a team with great talent and let none of it go to waste. There is no doubt that this team has what it takes to win the big game, but can they pull it off?
Chiefs:
The Chiefs are quite possibly one of the best known teams in the league, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce with his newfound group of Taylor Swift fans sporting major name recognition. Both of these players can change the game at any moment. The Chiefs also have a sneaky-good running back in Isiah Pacheco, who has taken the role as lead back this season and done well. The only problem in the Chiefs’ offensive lineup is that they haven’t yet found a good wide receiver, despite looking for one all season. As of right now, the best player at this position is Rasheen Rice – who is not reliable enough to be a good wide receiver. The Chiefs, however, do have one of the best defensive lines in the league, led by Chris Jones. The last part of this amazing team is head coach Andy Ried. Ried has kept his players’ spirits up all season, even when they were not playing their best, and he will surely be one of the biggest parts of a Chiefs victory. It takes a very good team to beat the Chiefs, but with the problems they have at wide receiver it may be possible.
Who’s going to win?
No matter what happens, this game will be one for the record books. The Forty-Niners are a 2.5 point favorite to win the game, but at the end of the day I think it will be the Chiefs who pull it off. In the playoffs so far, the Chiefs have been able to hold up under pressure and their issues on offense have not come back to haunt them. However, Brock Purdy and the Forty-Niners might be able to notch a win if they can get their two big name players in Deebo Samuel and Christian McCaffery playing well. To win, the Chiefs will need to have a strong defense, and the dynamic duo of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes has to work. No matter what happens, though, the game should be a great one to watch, and a great way to end the season.
