I love twist ending movies. In the genre of movies that have a surprise ending, the most famous ones include Fight Club and the Sixth Sense. They have this different feel than any other genre of movie. These movies give you a false sense of security and make you think you have knowledge of what is going to be happening. Then once you get to the end of the movie you feel as if everything you watched wasn’t real and/or true. These types of movies can almost always guarantee that you will be watching them again. I enjoy being on a psychological journey in these movies. I also feel that these are one of the only types of movies that can keep me off of my phone and engaged in them. If you haven’t seen the movies, Sixth Sense and Fight Club and want to keep the ending a surprise, I wouldn’t recommend reading more because the two endings are going to be compared. Which one has the best twist? After watching these two movies back to back, the winner to me was the Sixth Sense. It had the perfect amount of twist and horror mixed into one.

The Sixth Sense tells the story of a young boy named Cole Sear…who has the ability to see and communicate with the dead.

Fight Club is a movie that follows the theme of mental illness. The movie is the story of an insomniac named Jack, who is dissatisfied with his somewhat boring life.

The Sixth Sense is one of the “classic” horror movies. By today’s standards it would not be a horror movie per se. It doesn’t have the jump scares people crave in their movies; it’s more of a psychological thriller. If you are a fan of movies such as IT or The Conjuring, these two movies might not be for you. They don’t have that scary movie feel as horror movies do nowadays. The Sixth Sense tells the story of a young boy named Cole Sear, played by Hayley Osment, who has the ability to see and communicate with the dead. He goes to see a therapist named Malcolm Crowe, played by Bruce Willis, a child psychologist who tries to help Cole overcome his fears and understand his ability. Throughout the film, Crowe goes back to see his wife from whom he is drifting away. One day he goes to see her and realizes that she is not wearing her wedding ring. He looks down at his own finger and sees that he doesn’t have his ring either. He then discovers that he was killed by a former patient who snuck into his house, and that he is also a ghost. This is why only the boy can talk to him.

Fight Club is a movie that follows the theme of mental illness. The movie is the story of an insomniac named Jack, who is dissatisfied with his somewhat boring life. He goes out looking for excitement by going to support groups for people of different illnesses. He meets Tyler Durden, who introduces him to the world of underground fighting aka fight club. They go through ups and downs in this movie. Jack’s apartment had gotten broken into and he moved in with Tyler. Tyler ended up getting a girlfriend and leaving Jack by himself a lot. Tyler tells Jack that he wants to kill Marta because she stands in the way of the freedom that Jack has. Because of this Jack tries to kill Tyler. He thinks he has killed Tyler and saved himself but at the end it is revealed that Tyler is actually a figment of Jack’s imagination.

Fight Club and The Sixth Sense are two movies that were released in 1999. While they are different in terms of genre, they are the same in terms of themes and plot twists. Both movies have a plot twist that leaves the viewers in shock and rethinking the whole movie. In Fight Club we learn at the end that Tyler Durden is actually a figment of Jack’s imagination. In The Sixth Sense it is revealed that Malcolm Crowe has been dead the entire time. In Fight Club Jack’s insomnia and dissatisfaction with his life lead him to create an alternate personality that is more exciting and unpredictable. In the Sixth Sense Cole’s ability to see dead people is initially seen as schizophrenia by his mother and teachers. Though these movies have different stories and themes, which is the best ending? To me, I think that the Sixth Sense has the best ending, from the beginning where we heard Crowe getting shot to the very end finding out he was dead. This movie made me want to go back and watch it with this in mind whereas Fight Club was just a cool ending. If you like these kinds of movies I would recommend watching Memento, Shutter Island, Gone Girl and Arrival.
