Danny Packer, Ed Board KING: The Pack (Amazon Prime Series)

Hosted by Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn and her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Lucy, this show is a canine version of the Amazing Race. Twelve contestants and their canine comrades compete in a variety of challenges, with one pair sent home each episode.  The twelve pairs are put into two “packs.” Each episode includes a head-to-head competition between one pair from each pack revealing a clue to a “fetch point” where the first team to arrive selects from two team challenges. These might require dogs to pull little carts around collecting specified items, or serving fine dining meals by dog back.  The second pack to finish has to square off in a head to head challenge in which the last canine/human couple to finish are eliminated.

Vonn is a bit wooden as the host, but it doesn’t matter because the dogs are the real show stealers anyway. It is hard not to fall in love with Derby, the Golden Doodle with cool shades and a blue mohawk, Ace, the Border Collie, Duchess, the Black Lab and all the rest as they sniff for hidden objects, tug on objects to reveal clues, and ride zip lines.  The dog/human team left standing at the end wins $500,000 and another $250,000 for the charity of their choice. Additionally, in all the countries where they film, The Pack is making donations to local dog related charities. It’s mindless, good hearted, lovable entertainment with a whole pack of our new best friends.
