Tight Ends, 11/8

Travis Kelce: Coming off a strong game against the Jets, Kelce was able to build off that performance this week and score a total of 25.9 points. Kelce had his first game this season with double digit receptions hauling in 10 for 159 yards. Although he was not able to find the end zone Kelce saw high volume and was able to record his third 100 yard game this season. Next week Kelce and the Chiefs have a bye and then are scheduled to face the Raiders where Kelce should excel against a weak secondary and should be considered a must start.

Jimmy Graham: Graham has been quiet for most of the season but was able to score 17.5 points this week in his loss to the Titans. Graham was able to catch all six of his targets for 55 yards and a touchdown. This week Graham tied his season record of six receptions and had his second highest yard game of the season. Although he did have a strange week Graham is only a viable fantasy tight end if he scores, as he faces a strong Dolphins defence next week you should look for a different option next week.

Evan Engram: This week Engram was able to score 15.8 points and log his first touchdown of the season against Washington. Engram was targeted 10 times and was able to catch five of them for 48 yards. For the second week in a row Engram has seen double digit targets and has five or more receptions. Next week Engram faces the Eagles and with his increase of volume in the offense he should be considered for a starting spot.

Irv Smith Jr.: Smith is a tight end that has been quiet this whole season until this week where he put up 15 points. Smith had an unusual game against the Lions, when he caught two of his four targets for two touchdowns. Proving to be effective in the red zone Smith caught a one yard touchdown and a nine yard touchdown. Although a solid performance for a tight end Smith should not be started next week against the Bears, this was an anomaly game and will not be replicated next week.

T.J. Hockenson: For the third week in a row Hockenson has had a solid performance. This week he caught five of his eight targets for 39 yards and a touchdown. Hockenson has been a consistent play at the tight end spot. With his teammate Kenny Golladay out with a hip injury, Hockenson has seen more volume and should be starting next week against Washington.

Darren Waller: After a poor performance last week against the Browns Waller came back and put up a commendable performance. Waller was targeted 10 times and was able to haul in five of them for 22 yards and a touchdown. Waller’s performance was saved by his touchdown in the third quarter from the two yard line. Waller had double digit targets for the third time this season and you should expect similar volume next week against the Broncos. Although you should think twice before starting Waller next week because the Broncos have only allowed two touchdowns to tight ends this season.
