Drumroll please! Introducing Ms. Lizeth Trevizo! She’s one of the new additions to the 6/7 World Languages department. She currently teaches Spanish. She’s been a teacher for the past 7 years. She grew up in Chihuahua, Mexico, a city renowned for its intricate Spanish baroque architecture and enthusiastically passionate people. This is where her love of travelling blossomed. She has been to many fascinating places. Her favorite was Cinque Terre, Italy. The city itself is settled on the side of a cliff with colorful houses poking out of the grey rock. Her dream destination is Santorini, Greece, an island where the houses have brightly painted azure roofs.
For Ms. Trevizo, education is a lifelong journey fueled by a deep passion for discovery and values that she hopes to pass on to her students. Her desire to learn makes her a wonderful teacher in the language arts. The way she incorporates the world in her teaching really shows her dedication to help her students, “figure out who they are and what they can do in the world.”
Ms. Trevizo’s classroom is a place for students to find their passion as they learn Spanish. Being bilingual greatly increases perspective and helps teach values that grow as students learn more about the world around them. Whether through reading, writing, or discussion, she challenges her students to think critically and find their own voices. Her genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning creates an environment where students are eager to explore and take risks.
One quality she values most about herself is how she is able to connect easily with others and adapt well to different environments. She enjoys engaging with people and students, learning from their experiences, and building meaningful relationships. Apart from teaching, she also created a small business as a medical interpreter for specialists.
Aside from being an avid traveler, a devoted teacher, and an entrepreneur, she’s also a dog owner. Her dog has brilliant green and brown eyes, earning her the appropriate name of Gema or “Gem” in Spanish.
Ms. Trevizo is excited to be a part of our community, and we are glad to have her. Make sure to greet her on the path if you see her!
