One of the new faces on campus this year is Monsieur Bognolok. Originally from Cameroon, Africa, he moved to the Enchanting land of Albuquerque, New Mexico, four years ago and has been a teacher here at the Academy since last spring. Since starting his first full year here, Mr. Bognolok has enjoyed life on campus. He highlights his admiration for the close-knit community here by stating, “my colleagues, they are amazing, very kind. They pay attention to you. They listen to you. I love it.” He says that the people here are why he wanted to work at the Academy.

The first time Mr. Bognolok visited campus, he was actually delivering a package. Bognolok never really thought about going into education, but life can take you in unexpected directions. When he started looking into teaching jobs, he ran into a friend who told him about how amazing working at the Academy was and how great the community is. After completing his teaching degree, he found out there was an open space in the World Languages department.

Mr. Bognolok likes that being a teacher is like being a forever student because he is always learning something new and unexpected from his students. He particularly enjoys teaching the people at the Academy. Bognolok knows that at times he can be a hard teacher, pushing kids to go above and beyond. But, he says, people at the Academy accept and appreciate that challenge. He also says how much he enjoys the hard-working aspect of the Academy, how everyone here is always trying their best and improving, or trying to improve by reaching out to staff for help. This aspect of the Academy is what makes our community keep growing and enhancing through our mission of learning.

Bognolok is also an avid traveler. On his bucket list, he wishes to travel the world, particularly appreciating the green spaces of Colorado. He says that the greenery and mountains remind him of home. Among the many great things about Mr. Bognlok is his style. You can catch him on the path wearing intricate outfits that many find captivating, as it is quite the step up from the basic norm here on campus. He could go from conjugating verbs to cat-walking Vogue!

Overall, Mr Bognolok is the epitome of what you could call Academy spirit. He’s kind, empathetic, and committed: perfectly aligning with the school’s core values. Mr. Bognolok is a great addition to the community, bringing his adventurous spirit and hard-working soul into every aspect of his job.
