Have you ever met someone who has lived in nine countries? Well, now you have. Meet Sra. Glenn, a new faculty member in our World Languages Department.
Born and raised in Bernalillo, New Mexico, she grew up with six brothers and played many sports such as volleyball, basketball, and softball. After she attended Bernalillo High School, she went to Brigham Young University. Then, she became a missionary and served a mission in Spain. With her husband being a U.S. diplomat, she moved to Ecuador. Then, she went to live in South Africa, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Mexico, back to the U.S, Chile, and Brazil.
As a Spanish teacher, she also taught at Fairfax County Public Schools for an International Baccalaureate school called George C. Marshall High School in Washington D.C.. She taught English for adults in Brazil, tutored kids with autism, and started her own private teaching business as well. Sra. Glenn is a very dedicated teacher, true to her art, she says, “amo el español.” She wants to share her experience and excitement with Spanish, so that her students can understand and gain insights into other people’s cultures.
When Sra. Glenn first joined our campus, she was surprised by how mature and self-motivated Academy students are. With her daughters going to international schools, she expresses: “I think the Academy is really wonderful because they offer those same opportunities and it’s a nice community.”
We’re lucky to have another wonderful staff member join our community and make memorable contributions. Sra. Glenn not only has expertise in languages, but she’s also knowledgeable about other communities and cultures. Make sure to give her a warm welcome next time you see her!
