Playing is fun, but you know what’s better? Playing under the lights and having hundreds of people watch you. On September 5th at Richard Harper Memorial Field, the Academy hosted its annual “Under the Lights” football game against Hope Christian. It was a one of a kind night with food, lights, and plenty of fun activities. The Chargers coached by David Lee, were unfortunately unsuccessful in getting a result against Hope Christian losing 21-24, ending their winning streak of two games. It was an unfortunate game for the Chargers, but they gave their all on the field.
The Chargers were able to get 152 more yards than the Huskies. Junior Will ‘27, number 9, and senior Finn “26, number 12, linked up nicely on this night. Will threw for 227 yards and Finn was able to pick up 81 of those yards. Will was able to throw a 17-yard receiving touchdown pass to Finn. Will also threw a 58 yard rushing touchdown pass to senior Ryan ‘26, number 8.
On defense, both seniors, Zach ‘26, number 55 and Ryan ‘26 managed to get seven tackles. In the first quarter, the Chargers were down 10-0; they managed to close the gap but unfortunately came just short.
The Chargers next take on Chaparral on September 20th at 2:00 pm again at Richard Harper Memorial field.
