Mr. Karl Orozco, our visual arts department’s graphic design and senior studio teacher, has a show at the Sanitary Tortilla Factory, 401 2nd St SW, Albuquerque, NM, September 20th through October 25th. His project, Signs of Life, focuses on unused and abandoned signage and the limbo between life and death in which they hang. Orozco reconstructs the found signs from across New Mexico by taking photographs and then transforming the images into a 3D model, finally animating the signs and projecting them in a dark room. Paired with audio, his work is an immersive experience which crystalizes the sign’s transitory states. The opening reception is October 4th from 5-8 and is open to the public.
