Change of Tomorrow is a student-run club co-founded last summer by Ayla Zomermaand ‘25 and Meryem Anderoglu ‘25. We wanted to create a platform to amplify voices otherwise unheard in our communities and across the globe. We also aim to create tangible change by increasing awareness of various crises and fundraising for those causes. In the fall semester, you may have even bought a cookie or cup of hot chocolate from one of our fundraisers.
Our latest project, “People in Crisis,” is an educational initiative providing overviews of humanitarian crises occurring globally – especially stories that do not receive media coverage in the United States. You may have seen our “People in Crisis” map in Brown Hall, the building’s newest piece of wall decor, but this project isn’t just eye-catching. Alongside becoming better-versed in international news, being exposed to different experiences promotes empathy and interconnectedness among our communities. “People in Crisis” reports on various issues like natural disasters, military conflicts, and ongoing humanitarian issues, updating information as situations develop. The primary purpose of the project is to raise awareness – the first step in enacting change. Additionally, each article provides a way to follow up with action, whether it is donating to a credible organization or learning more about a topic.
Let us exchange our apathy for empathy – the world we want to see starts with us. By raising awareness and relief, we can be the change of tomorrow.
