Enola Holmes 2 Review
Enola Holmes 2 recently came out on Netflix and is currently 2nd on Netflix’s top-watched movies. The second installment of the series stars Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, Henry Cavil, Hanna Dodd, and Helena Bohdam Carter. Millie Bobby Brown has starred in Stranger Things, Henry Cavil has starred in SuperMan and Helena Bohdam Carter has starred in many Harry Potter’s, Alice in Wonderland, Corpse Bride, and Charlie and the Chocolate factory. This is the second movie in the series so I recommend watching the first movie before the second to avoid spoilers and give more context. I overall really liked this movie, which would make a really good movie night choice, and am hoping for a third one.
The first movie, Enola Holmes I, starts off with Enola Holmes, a sixteen-year-old girl who’s the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes and an aspiring detective, who wakes up the morning of her birthday with her mother missing. Enola catches a one-way train to the city where her mother left her a clue. Sitting in the train she meets Tewksbury, a runaway duke trying to escape his family who’s trying to murder him. Together they escape explosives, nearly face death, and most importantly become good friends.
The second movie begins with Enola opening her new detective agency in town as everyone overlooks her for her incredible older brother Sherlock. When a little girl asks for her help finding her missing sister, Enola’s search for Sarah Chapman, a match girl in a match factory with many secrets, begins. As the storyline progresses, it is revealed that the match factory is sending girls home to later die from Typhus, but Enola knows that’s really what they’re dying of.
I watched the movie a few weeks ago and I think it was an exciting watch and I might even say it was better than the first one. Millie Bobby Brown does an amazing job with her performance as the lead, Enola Holmes. Brown’s role in Stranger Things has made her extremely popular among teenagers and a great person to look up to. I think the new characters, such as Cicely played by Hannah Dodd, and Bessie played by Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, were a great addition to the cast and made the story a lot more interesting. This movie gives you a chill down the back of your neck and you’ll be on the edge of your seat the entire time.
Although I would say this movie is good, it is disturbing at some points. It does include blood and violence so if you are sensitive to that I suggest you don’t watch it. I recommend this movie to people who read the book series because it’s exciting to see how they interpreted the books, but if you haven’t read the books, like me, you’ll understand the story just fine. This movie is great for long-time fans but also for people who would love a good mystery drama. So what are you waiting for? Go watch Enola Holmes 2 on Netflix!
