Letters to the Editors Guidelines

The Advocate’s Editorial Board supports and encourages a diverse array of voices and opinions in our opinion writing and journalistic approach. If you have an opinion that can be conveyed with the requirements below The Advocate invites you to submit a letter that will be reviewed promptly at our next Editorial Board meeting. Submit your letter to us on the Contact Us page by selecting “Submit letter to the editors/guest essay for review and publication” as your reason for contacting The Advocate.

Requirements:

  • Letters should be up to about 500 words
  • Letters should refer to an article that has been published within the semester. If it is the beginning of the school year any article that was published in the last school year and maintains relevancy is acceptable.
  • Letters should be factual and have a clear and sound argument

Selected letters may be edited for length and clarity and fact-checked by the Editorial Board. Selected letters do not represent the views or opinions of The Advocate or the Editorial Board. Every letter published represents the views of the writer. If you have any questions regarding this process please contact Editor-in-Chief Uzair Hammad ([email protected]).
