Guest Essays Guidelines

The Advocate’s Editorial Board supports and encourages a diverse array of voices and opinions in our opinion writing and journalistic approach. We invite first person accounts and student organizations to submit an essay that will be reviewed promptly at our next Ed Board meeting. Submit your letter to us on the Contact Us page by selecting “Submit letter to the editors/guest essay for review and publication” as your reason for contacting The Advocate.

Requirements:

  • Delivered in the author’s or organization’s own voice
  • Drawn from the author’s or organization’s expertise or experience

If you intended to submit a letter instead please refer to this page. A letter to the editors is in response to a recent article whereas a Guest Essay allows you or your organization to write on a specific issue as a personal account.

Selected letters may be edited for length and clarity and fact-checked by the Editorial Board. Selected letters do not represent the views or opinions of The Advocate or the Editorial Board. Every letter published represents the views of the writer. If you have any questions regarding this process please contact Editor-in-Chief Uzair Hammad ([email protected]).
